I'm Not An Opiate User Anymore.
UpdatedI've been clean now for a number of yrs, was only taking a half of a one mg subxone. So why would a doctor put me on Bunavail? It's for opioid users. I'm not an opioid user. It's been over 15 yrs since I took opioids, I'm not understanding why my doctor wants me on Bunavail flim 4.2 mg twice per day. What are your thoughts?

Bunavail contains the same active ingredients as Suboxone, Buprenorphine and Naloxone, and Burpenorphine is an opiate.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
Did you ask your doctor why he wanted to put you on it?
Bunavail is an excellent version of buprenorphine/naloxone as it has fewer side effects and tastes far better than Suboxone. But if you have been off opiates and weren't complaining of considerable cravings or relapse, then I have no idea why your Doctor would start Bunavail. It is a very effective pain medication (off-label), but that would be a very high dose to start you on.
