If Your Blood Results Come Back Normal, Do You Have To Continue Taking Levothyroxine?

I have hypothyroidism, and I've been on 25 mcg levothyroxine for three months now, and my blood results came back normal during my last doctor's visit. I forgot to ask him, so I thought I'd ask here. Since my thyroid is normal, do I have to continue taking the medication?

A normal blood test result doesn't necessarily mean that your thyroid has returned to normal and that you are cured, what it can mean is that the medication is working, thus stopping it could start the problems you were being treat for, all over again.

Have you consulted your doctor?

Normally, if a change in the medication is needed, they would adjust your dosage accordingly.
