She took 2300 mgs ibuprofen all at once 24 hours ago. She vomited within 30 min. Do I need to worry that she overdosed? ## Hello, Jennifer! How is your daughter doing? In the future, any time you fear for the life or health of a loved one, please call 911, your local poison control or go to your nearest emergency treatment facility. While there are those of us online that are always happy to help, if we can, there is nothing we can do over the Internet, if life saving measures might be required. That said, that is a very high dosage to take at once, so there is a risk that she may have done some damage to her stomach or liver, which should be checked out via blood work and other exams. The maximum daily dose for adults is usually around 3,200mgs. But the vomiting could have been a sympt...

I took a pseudophedrine for a migraine on Wednesday. The following Monday I went in for a drug screen. Will it be clear by then? I am in no way a drug user of any kind except for occasional pseudophedrine and ibuprofen to help with very bad headaches.

Would a physician prescribe 800 mg ibuprofen to nursing mother knowingly? Infant 3 mos. Rosa ## Hello, Rosa! How are you? Yes, Ibuprofen can safely be taken by a nursing mother. When a nursing woman requires an NSAID, it is the preferred choice, because it is only secreted in breast milk in very small amounts and infants are usually given much higher doses for fever and teething pain. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I take ibuprofen while taking statins? Lipator, plavix, lsinopril and atenolol Please advise ## Hello, Gary! How are you? If you have high blood pressure or a cardiac condition, then you may not be able to take Ibuprofen. NSAIDs can sometimes cause blood pressure elevations and fluid retention. What has your doctor advised you to take? Have you tried just taking Acetaminophen? That's usually safe to take, unless your doctor says otherwise.

do the Ibuprofen IP 466 and the Ibuprofen I8 have the same exact inactive ingredients? I have gotten muscle pain and headaches with the I8 and never got them with the IP466 I thought maybe something was different in the inactive ingredients. can you please help me ## Hello, Kate! How are you? As long as they are using ones from the FFA approved list, none of them have to be the same from one manufacturer to the other, so yes, it could be the in actives that are causing your problem. Headaches can also be side effects of NSAIDs, though most people take them to treat headaches. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Expiration date is 11/2013. Is it safe to use? ## Hi Carol! Most medications are safe to use even after the expiration date. Sometimes for years. Some may lose their potency after awhile. ## @Carol, If you've been keeping it under what's considered to be "proper storage conditions" (i.e. - not leaving it under intense heat sources for extended periods of time, and storing it in a cool dark place), studies show that many medications can last for even up to 10 or 15 years beyond the expiration date while maintaining potency. I haven't seen the specific list of medications involved in these particular studies, but given the details above, it sounds like your ibuprofen should still be near it's prime. I hope this helps! ## Hi I would like to know my husband was on pr...

I have taken numerous over the counter medicines for sinus headaches, allergies, and pain relievers containing ibuprofen in the last 6 months. I have to take a pre-employment drug test soon. I fear some of these medicines might show up as an illegal drug in my hair follicle drug test. Do I need to worry about this? ## It really depends on what you've taken and the quality of the test that is done. False positives have become fairly common. Just as an example, on a poorly done test, the Ibuprofen could give a false positive for Marijuana. This happens much more frequently with urine tests, however, there is always a slight possibility that it could do the same on other tests, as well. There are also reports of many over the counter cold and allergy preparations causing false positive...

Two bottom teeth extracted towards the back ## Hi Tee, From what I could gather, there aren't any drug interactions listed between Ibuprofen and Tramadol. So as far as mixing the two is concerned, both medications are generally regarded as safe to use together. But if you're ever looking for an alternative to ibuprofen, there's also a similar brand I know of called Ultracet that contains both Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Sometimes you can only take so much of a certain medication, where as having a backup option might come in handy if you can get your doctor to prescribe it. I hope this helps! Was there anything else specifically that you had a question about?

I've only got half of the pill. It definitely has a coating on it; there is a 2 imprint clearly marked on one half and nothing on the other side of the, unfortunately, half that I have. ## Hello, Ophelia! How are you? I can't be completely certain, but from your description it sounds like you may have found an over the counter 200mg Ibuprofen tablet, a store brand or generic for Advil or Motrin. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Like I said, I can't be certain, but there is one on the market that matches this description. I'll also do some searching to see what other possibilities I can find and post back, when I have other information for you. Does anyone else have any ideas of what this might be?
