I am allergic to Penicillins-hives & acute breathing reaction; Bactrim-acute breathing reaction; Ceclor-shortness of breath; Vicodin-shortness of breath; Clindamycin-shortness of breath. I have an intolerance to Levaquin-both knees joint damage; Azithromycin- acute vomiting & diarrhea for 4 consecutive days; Erythromycin-severe stomach ache & diarrhea. I have had this infection since 8-24-13. I got it from my grandson who was prescribed Augmentin and was visibly better within 24 to 48 hrs. Today is 9-9-13, I have bright mustard yellow mucous now instead of deep green, both my ears are still plugged up, and my sinuses & chest are still congested. I took the ciprofloxacin drops in my ears for 7.5 days then stopped because I felt the drops were just rolling away from my intact ear drums and being soaked up into the cotton I put in my ears. I do have one refill to the ciprofloxacin drops. 1.Should I continue with the ciprofloxacin drops in both ears? 2.Would it be better to put the drops in each nostril & get to the source of the sinus infection that is causing my ears to be clogged? 3.Is there an antibiotic that I can use to cure these symptoms that I am not allergic or intolerant to?

As far as your allergies to clandomycin and erythromycin? Not common as they're known to be quite effective on individuals who are highly allergic such as myself but okay. And as far as vicodin goes, shortness of breath is normal, same goes for hydrocodone, oxycontin, etc may not happen to everyone but that's not an allergic reaction.

I would not recommend that you use cotton balls after administering, the fact that it's running out of you ear is quite normal as the ear does not have an exit hole so to speak. I would recommend you keep your head tilted for at least five minutes, then turn over and wipe what runs out and repeat on the opposite ear. It wasn't caused by your grandson but by using the medication that was prescribed to him. Also, Augmentin is amoxicillin and Cipro is ciprofloxacin which is a quinolone so one does not necessarily have to do with the other. I'm allergic to quinolones and yet I can use these drops in my ear and they're great. I'm also allergic to penicillin, amoxicillin and cepolosporin.

I was prescribed this medicine. 1 drop every 4 here for a perfed eardrum. What can I take for the pain?
I work for retinal specialists who prescribe ciprofloxacin often. It works well for eye infections, and also works well for ear infections. As my children use it often for their ear infections, and from using it at work I am very familiar with cipro. However, it only works for ear infections of if you currently ha have ear tubes. Otherwise the cipro will have no benefit for your ears. I would also suggest to not put it in your nostrils. use a noise spray, flonase, or nadonex instead. how that helps!
Since ciprofloxacin is in the Levaquin family and since Levaquin caused joint damage in both of my knees, the doctor thought it would be best to use the drops in my ears as the ciprofloxacin would be more localized and hopefully wouldn't create any more joint damage reactions. Would the drops work better to clear ears, sinuses, and chest congestion if I had put them in both nostrils instead of both ears? Both my ears are still clogged and I can't hear well. Is there something I could do to unclog both my ears?
When putting in ear drops, it's actually best to do one ear at a time and then site for about 5 minutes, with your head tilted to the side to keep them in their deep enough and long enough for them to work. You still lose some that way, but it's usually absorbed pretty quickly via the ear canal.
And what about an oral Ciprofloxacin?

It is available that way, not just as these drops. Have you ever tried it?
