I Try To Quit Taking Norethindrone Pain All Over

I have been on norethindrone for 5 years from abnormal menstrual bleeding. My doctor told me I could stop taking it at any time to see if I have gone through menopause yet. Both times I tried, my body aches so severely I can barely lay down or even put clothes on without wincing. Is this common? Why would this happen? Any suggestions of how I can stop taking it and avoid this agony?

Sorry to hear about your situation. Based on your story, it sounds like there may be withdrawal symptoms associated with stopping Norethindrone... In such cases, perhaps it would be best to consult your doctor about a tapering regimen in order to help mitigate these unwanted side effects while you slowly titrate off the medication. After 5 years of use, it's likely that your body has become so accustomed to having Norethindrone that when you pull it away your hormone levels are significantly affected. Please note that this is just my opinion from an outside perspective, but I'm under the impression that tapering off (as opposed to stopping cold turkey) can at least make this a less painful process.
