I Started Late
UpdatedI started the pill 4 days after my period started. I started on a Monday. I been on it for 5 days. How long does it take to work due to the fact that I didn't take it on the first day of my period? What are my chances of getting pregnant?

Hello, Dezi! How are you?
It needs to be taken for a full 7 days, to reach its full level of effectiveness in the body, according to the FDA guidelines on oral contraceptives. So, you'd need to use some additional form of protection, until the 8th day of taking active pills, otherwise, you risk pregnancy.
Typical side effects are listed as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain and PMS like symptoms.
Is there anything else I can help with?
