I Need A Doctor To Prescribe Me Subutex For Pain

Please help me I've been on this medicine since I was a child I am now 40 years old I need to find a doctor in Charleston South Carolina that will prescribe me Subutex for pain not for addiction. I've lost my job my quality of life is non existent. Doctors will write me a script for oxycottin, opiates before they'll treat my pain with subutex. Please if anyone reads this & can tell me where im forever in your debt. Opiates; I won't do that I refuse to do that please help me!!!!

Subutex is an opiate, just like the others, it contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine.

The FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

It tends to take a stronger hold on the opiate receptors in the brain, preventing the use/abuse of other opiates, while someone is taking it, which is why it works for addiction treatment.

What other options have you tried for your pain?

I don’t know if you’re still looking for answers as this post is super old and I’m not sure why it comes up in the email this site sends, but back in 2016 only doctors who had gone through special training could provide these types of medications. I believe that in 2023 that has been waived or at least reduced.

samhsa.gov should have a link somewhere to find doctors in your area who can do medically assisted detox. I am not sure they can help you with pain but at least they’re licensed to prescribe the medication.

You would be better off trying to find pain management because regular PCPs cannot give this medication in most situations and if you go to someone who gives it for detox you might get labeled a drug addict which will make it harder for you to get pain medication later.
