I Missed One Birth Control Pill, Was Late For The Next, And Had Period 2 Days Later
UpdatedI have been taking Sprintec for about 5 years and I have never had this happen until now.
On the second Monday of my pack, I completely forgot to take my pill, I discovered this on that Tuesday when I already found out that I was late for Tuesday too.
So I took both pills for Monday and Tuesday, both were late.
On an unwise decision, I had intercourse on Wednesday afternoon, and on Thursday morning I saw blood on my underwear.
I immediately panicked thinking it was "spotting" that occurs when one is pregnant. I tried calling my OB's office asking about what I should do and if I should take a pregnancy test and the nurse said that it was too soon to be able to tell if I were.
So I continued to take my pills normally in the mean time. A week of waiting on "spotting" out, I realized it was too heavy a flow to be considered spotting and was more like the flow of a period. And it lasted for 5 days as opposed to my usual light period while on BC. If that was my period though, that would mean I had it 2 weeks early.
My questions:
Did I do the right thing by continuing my pills as normal and waiting out the period? If not, what can I do now to remedy the situation?
Should I now look to taking a pregnancy test or is it too soon still?

When you're taking these, your period actually is brought on by a withdrawal from the hormones, the pills you take that week have no active hormones in them, like the others do. Thus, by missing a pill, you most likely brought it on and then disrupted your hormone levels even further by doubling up.
Most women can actually skip their periods altogether by skipping the placebo week, or they can change when they have it, by not taking the active pills a different week. It should always be cleared with ones doctor first, but can be done by most women.
It's not very likely that you're pregnant and even for the most sensitive tests to detect if you are, you'd have to wait at least a week to 10 days.
You should also double check all of this with your doctor, but most likely, there's nothing to worry about.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
