I Have Caught Cvs And Other Pharmacies Lying About Not Having Oxycodone In Stock, Shortage 2012 (Page 3)

Updated

Well today I officially caught a cvs here in Ga lying to me. A friend of mine filled his Meds yesterday. I go in, having a history with cvs, a recent one, and am immediately lied to. The pharmacist comes over and tells me they haven't had them in stock for months, without looking at his book or computer. At this point I stated an employee I know the name of told me shipment came in Thursday. He lied again. I then told him friend had filled yesterday morning. He said it was impossible. I then said I saw the bottle with my own eyes, it had their address on it, and even told him what brand they had since my friend just filled his there. Pharmacist lied to me yet again. I then asked him why he wad lying to me and that I am tired of being treated like a criminal because I am 30 with a handicapped tag and a four page long mri report for my neck, mid, and lower back. I just found out I have central and foramina stenosis in my lower back, yea!! He then asked me if I had been having trouble filling. I said yes, it seems a lot of pharmacies are lying about not having it in stock. I said it is easy to tell on how they look at you, treat you, and if they check their logbook which is required for all schedule two Meds. I then gave him a chance to not lie and said "so you mean you filled the last of your stock yesterday." Since he lied to me again I decided it was time to call his district manger. The info I told him was correct but he decided to lie so its not my fault if he gets fired. U am going to let his district manager know the whole story, and let them know that if something is not done I will contact the news about discrimination against a legit pain patient for them not to get their Meds and have a normal life. They won't want bad press that is for sure, esp since I have a handicapped tag. I am in their system for filling the exact Meds I brought in, they have my discount card on file also, and my whole family uses their pharmacy so these ate the thongs I will tell district. Any other pharmacies who lie I will do the same thing to. So it seems the shortage going on here in Georgia and Florida are manipulated by the pharmacies and the distributors. Mckesson isn't shipping them out to rite aid, wal mart, sams, and Target. They are afraid of getting fined like a few years ago or getting in trouble like cardinal, cvs, walgreens, publix, and krogers distributor. Cardinal is still shipping from Mississippi and north Carolina, but not from Florida atm. The rest of the country is not having any problems, just Florida and Georgia. Since I have a lawsuit going against Allstate from my car accident(not my fault) and we are going after a doc who read someone else's mri to make his conclusion and type a bogus report to my insurance so they will not reimburse me anymore, we ate going after him for slander or defimation of character since he wrote I sell my Meds, maybe I can add cvs for pain and suffering and descrimination. This is absolutely rediculous these days. Sorry for the rant but people selling them ate making a killing these days and legit patients are going broke from price gouging or gas prices just so we can live a somewhat normal life. Makes no sense how out system works.

You sir, need to go smoke some marijuana and this should help with the headaches and stress. Get it however you need to. It will help.

@ commonsense-- I wish they would legalize medical marijuana in my state because it does help with many things, hence the drug companies have like 100 meds that have something from pot in it. That's one of the reasons its illegal is it hurts their profits and those same companies donate to campaigns for political people. A couple of years ago my docs office did not care of I smoked because I had thrown up in the office from hurting and he knew it worked but I can't now because I can't have a failed drug screen, I get tested every month so its impossible to do. Pot makes it where when you are hurting really bad you don't have to take something every four hours because of how it mixes with the other meds. Also if you smoke the really good stuff when taking your meds it can also knock you out so its something you can't do everyday. Atleast I couldn't because I like to do stuff instead of sit at home because smoking gives you a buzz. It's the only thing that has ever helped with me throwing up for whatever reason. Pot is better for you than alcohol and could be taxed if made legal.

Always check your meds before you leave the counter area, and know what your pills should look like. And of course you can't count each pill but try to estimate that your not like 20-30 short, once you leave they are no longer responsible. Even if they did do something your gonna play hell proving it. Good luck with our pain. And as always watch the You-Tube video of our idiot head of the DEA. "Michele Leonhart gets grilled" And pass it on, theres no sense that someone like her should be in charge of our pain meds. Hopefully soon she won't be.

Wow Melissa! Apparently you are not a Dr that is most apparent! Two you have never had real pain I can tell that by your lack of sympathy towards those that do! I have a Terminal blood disorder, I am dying not that I think you would care about it is extremely;y painful! And even though I am as of yet not in the grave I would like to not be in pain while I still am on this earth! I have been on pain meds for 2 years it has given me more freedom to at least bathe myself and go out to like the movies simple things I am sure you take for granted every day! What the man above said is true first the pain comes back when your pharmacy does not fill your meds then like anything you take on a daily basis your body is used to it so yes it will eventually about 30hours later start detoxing but that is not the bad part. the bad part is the extreme pain pain worse than break a limb pain that yes does make you wish for death! And some of us spend our lives at Drs and Hospitals so it is awful thing when we have to go to the Hospital just to get pain meds! Because some dumb pharmacist thinks they know best they think there are the MD! So all I can say is people like you I despise! And I wish with all my black little bitter heart that you one day have an illness that causes you chronic pain and lets see how long you last with out meds before suicide seems the better option!

Is miss bitter actually reffering to Melissa? I don't see any connection there. If anyone ever actually watches "michele leonhart gets grilled" please comment.

As someone who knows real pain and has been denied getting prescriptions filled. I must agree that some of you do raise red flags and you don't even realize it.

I'm 23 and suffer severe back pain due to a motorcycle accident I was in when I was 18. It's been hard enough to find a doctor willing to treat me (a 4 year battle), now I must deal with pharmacists giving me the cold shoulder because i'm young. Suddenly because i'm young, I must be fine, I can deal with it.

I wish... Lost my job, drained my 401k, ruined my credit... It's not a life to look forward too.

With all that said, anyone can be an abuser. Regardless if you have legitimate reasons for pain meds or not, no matter how old you are or what type of accident you've been in. We as patients also have the ability to contribute to the problem, especially when people like yourselves make it look like your one of the abusers.

Relax for a moment, don't be defensive. If you get denied a prescription, politely ask for your RX back and wish them a good day. Then move on.... You really thinking raising a stink is going to make your odds better off the next month you try to get it filled? Stop making it harder for the rest of us and just move on. I've had to go to as many as 10 pharmacies in a row just to get a simple fill before, but not once did I act in such an outrageous manner.

Dear Verwon; You are absolutely wrong about oxycontin not being a life threatening medicine. I have malignant hypertension encephalopathy my blood pressure accelerates to 245/135. Yes I have had strokes as well. When I have an episode of the encephalopathy the best way to explain the pain. It feels as if someone is smashing my head with a sledge hammer. I do take this medication in conjunction with many other medications. If I do not have it within a 24 hour period of time I am rushed to ER. Oh I could go on like the peripheral neuropathology in both legs. So gets your facts together Charlie. As many can attest to here you are only showing your ignorance.

First i keep telling everyone to vidio or voice record everytime you go to pharmacy WITHOUT them knowing, and there is your proof of how they treat you and so on, and you can look up your pills in this site were on and figure out what the other pills are. And wait for your Lawer to get back and take it from there. Good luck honey im proud of you for not killing that Pharmacist!

Back pain patient, that is adorable. You've been to 10 whole pharmacies before???? Oh my you dear!!! Dude, I have been to 30. Every day. For 5 days before. That is around 150 pharmacies. If it were only 10, half the people here wouldn't care. And to your little " take it politely so they remember your kindness next month and fill for you" that is BS. You are just one of a hundred people they see a DAY trying to fill that medication. They don't give a damn/remember how effing cordial you were and take pity on you the next time. Come back and talk to me once you have pharmacy crawled for weeks wasting $100's in gas trying to fill your meds and see how well you take it.

I had recent surgery and a legitimate prescription for Oxycodone 10/325. I've never had trouble in the past getting my script filled. It seems there's not ONE pharmacy in the Tampa Bay area who can fill it. They all say the same thing. It's been on "Back order" for a long time. The good news is that I'm not hooked (praise God!) but I am in SEVERE pain! Called my Dr.'s office yesterday and advised they said they were aware (THEN WHY WRITE THE STUPID SCRIPT!!!!!?) but wouldn't help me switch it to something else. In the mean time I'm truly hurting. Does anyone know where I can go to get it filled? Is there truly a back order or is this some kind of conspiracy?

I do feel and sympathize immensely with your predicament. I've been there myself. The one thing that I found worked wonderfully (in my case) was to start going to a small town type "mom and pop" pharmacy. In these days of "the family owned or an individual retailer" vs. the chain pharmacies, the smaller pharmacies are a lot more willing to go out of their way to help you. They are also less likely to give you that "cock-eyed" grin like your doing something illegal, and thay might be willing (or may do you the favor) of filling your prescription (doing their job) that YOUR Dr. personally wrote for YOU & not them (the pharmacy). It also helps to attempt to get to know the full time/regular pharmacist (you can find a lot out about people just by small talk). It also helps to know one or two of the pharmacy techs (that never hurts). But lots of times, often depending on your attitude, the smaller pharmacies are more willing to help you without being judgmental for getting the meds. that you and your Dr. think you may need. Finding an honest and nice pharmacist that you like and that likes you as well. I guarantee you'll be happier and they will actually make you feel that your business is appreciated as well. However, there's always one of two employees that will start making up excuses why it can not be filled (out of stock, Dr. didn't write his DEA number, etc.) even though that info is almost always in their stores' computer system or simply because it's a controlled substance and a little more paperwork is usually involved. If you run into that situation, be sure to let them know, that you will be back when the person that has the ability make decisions gets back in (usually the lead pharmacist.) And always get their names, first and last. Amazingly this sometimes can instantly change an employees attitude. Especially when they realize you know the person that signs their paychecks. Hope this helps!!

I hear you about the lying and discrimination. Just because I can walk without the aid of a walker or cane, these pharmmacies, CVS without exception, is discriminating against me and I will seek legal advice. It is bad enough living in constant pain, but the depression I feel for what they have done to me has sent me to the edge. People who have never broke their back just don't understand anything about chronic pain. So, shame on you CVS and the others for destroying my self-being once again.

Oxycontin, oxycodone, roxicodone, etc.

This isn't a "CVS" issue. It's something that if you are looking for that drug and do not have cancer, every pharmacy you go to is going to tell you they don't have it. Why? Because you shouldn't be on it. That drug is specifically designed for cancer patients during chemotherapy. Now every joke doctor is writing it. Slipped discs, fibromyalgia, random chronic pain, whatever the hell else that ails you is not a reason to get this. My mother was in a car wreck, and had to have steel rods in 30% of her bone structure, multiple skin grafts, and reconstruction surgery on the left side of her face. The correct medication for this sort of injury is not oxycodone. Honestly, that wouldn't do anything for a true victim because that is not how oxycodone works.

The pharmacy (and i mean any pharmacy, not just cvs) is going to tell you they don't have it, can't get it, etc. There is no shortage of the drug. The reason they wont dispense of to you can be one of many things. I'm going to list several reasons why the pharmacy won't give it to you. None of these are accusations, just what they see on an hourly basis.

1. You could be a known patient who always seems to run out of their xanax, loratab, etc early.
2. The particular doc who wrote the script can be known to the pharmacy as a joke, or a "candy man." This means they write Oxy for anyone with a wallet. Could also be sanctioned.
3. The rx is from one state, patient from another, and brought to a pharmacy in yet another state.
4. Mannerisims. If you come into a pharmacy dirty as hell, with the trademark "scratch pits" all over your face, swirling your head around like your in a shampoo commercial while tapping on the counter, no they aren't gonna have it for you.
5. If you are recognized as a smurf for sudafed, they won't have it.
6. If you call them on the phone and ask about any c2 medication, they won't have it. For a pharmacy to give out that information over the phone is an invitation to be robbed.
7. If oxy is written by a family practice doctor, not a cancer treatment doc.

There are tons more reasons why you won't get oxy, but I'm not going to list them. If you have nerve pain or injuries, oxy is not for you. If you have physical injuries, its not for you. There are meds specifically designed to treat those problems. Oxy is not one of them.
Don't be an addict, go to a real doc and get something that will actually help you. Oxy is not a cure all, its a cancer medication. Period. No pharmacy will tell you they have it.

they are a bunch of lying d1ckholes.

just go to wal-mart, but yeah it gets tiring being lied to about them not having the prescription when you have a legitimate medical need and it is NONE OF THEIR GODDAM BUSINESS anyway what you are prescribed.

Thank god today I went to a pharmacy that trated me like a human being from the time I talked to the phamacist on the phone for the first time. I never been in thier store, I told him what I was taking and if he had it in stock, he said go ahead and give me your personal information so I can get you out quicker! When I went to the store today to get the scripts, I told him I couldn't find a pharmacy that carries the Watson brand of 10/325.He said he would do everthing in his power to get the Watsons for me and I thought I was going to have to the men in the little white suits. So, with all due respect to CVS and the other big chain stores like you, KISS MY F***ING A**!

FYI , pharmacists go to school for 7 years and they are doctors. They have a doctorate . Doctors of medicine. . And as another person replied, there is nothing you can do legally to make them fill the script for you. I am a tech at a big chain pharmacy and even by you telling the pharmacist that a friend of yours just got their rx filled , that is reason enough for them to refuse filling it because that is now considered "networking"

they go to school for six years and get a pharmD degree.

irregardless, it is not their job to decide whether or not to deny filling someone's prescription.

a medical doctor has already written the prescription for them and their job is solely to provide great customer service and fill the goddam prescription. end of story.

they have NO IDEA what the medical history is of the person getting the prescription filled and it's not their job to decide whether or not someone can get their prescription filled.

period.
