Most prescription medications are good for one year from the date you receive them from your pharmacy, according to the NIH, unless they are still in the original factory sealed container. They do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do start to lose effectiveness, so they may not fully eradicate the infectious bacteria, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance.
The FDA lists its typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
It would be best to see your dentist, so they can prescribe the proper antibiotic and make sure you have enough to finish a full course of treatment.
