I Had A Positives Test For Thc And I Take Alot Of Prescription Medication. Could Any Or All Of These Cause That Test To Be Positive
UpdatedI am on several prescription medications. I take topiramate 100mg, meloxicam 7.5 ,orphenadrine citrate 100mg, clonazepam 1mg, lamotrigine 100mg, Ibuprofen 800mg, hydrocodone 10mg, methocarbamol 500mg phenergan and I switch between Advil, aleve, tylenal, and the same day as the test took alcazelser flue and cold as well as cranberry pills and oh gosh and I can't remember the name of the pill but it's for a uti over the counter it turns your urine orange.i need to know if one or some of these can cause a THC test to come up positive. someone got mad at me and called child protection services and told them I was on Methamphetamine. I just laughed cause I'm drug free I have 6 kids 5 are in elementary and I'm a grandma I would never even dream of doing such things I don't like taking the meds that are prescribed. there not taking my kids but it's going on my record and I have to start weekly drug test and I find it unfair. please if any of these things I've mentioned could have caused this to happen I need to know because I have appealed it and I need proof I don't want that on my record. its like being accused of committing a crime and not even being in the same town

Hi, I know ur post is a yr old. But would you mind me asking how everything turned out with your 5 younger kids? About ur original question. No ur meds will nvr show up as cannabis. Even if you are on nabalone which is pure THC, I still don't think it would show up. My Dr turned me on to cannabis 6 yrs ago. I mean idk about the states but you'd nvr be involved with children's aid just bcuz u partake in a bit of cannabis. But then again I don't live in a country where a person gets more time for a couple of grams of cannabis than they would for murder or manslaughter. Heck an ounce could get you life in the states. Anyway now that it's a yr later. How did it all pan out?
Holy crap Julie. First of all I realize I'm replying over 2 yrs later but I would ask your pharmacist if your med combo can give that result. I'm personally on my own lengthy med cocktail and any time I ask my doc about this that or the other I can tell he's taking offense even though I'm not questioning his abilities as a doc. If you have a good relationship with your pharmacist he will be more than happy to help-- he has no vested interest and will give you a straight answer and probably even more info than you even asked about. I have found that I have a better "drug" relationship with my pharmacist than my doc and he has even given me names of meds my doc never thought of because they were "old school" meds and he "forgot" about them..... since they weren't lining his pockets. The "old school" meds are better than the newest and the greatest due to the lack of side effects and drug combo issue test results. So again, go to your pharmacist to get your answers and not your doc. Also switching docs isn't the answer because apparently you may be then deemed as a doc shopper which is far worse than any drug adverse effects...... yes I know this first hand because I used to be a doc hopper, meaning that if they weren't helping me i found a new one that did listen to me-- until s/he stopped truly listening to me and my concerns. In my experience, the docs get complacent and develop a God complex and feel they "own" their patients----especially in my case where I HAVE to take certain meds to control my mental disorder.
My previous doc actually had the audacity to tell me on our last visit that if I changed docs she would no longer help me get meds if needed. In case you didn't know psychiatrists have their own "rule" book to follow and it is not always conducive to patient treatment, concerns etc. Luckily I have my pharmacist that helps when I ask him. Even my new psychiatrist isn't fond of my "drug" knowledge but he at least accepts that I'm trying to ONLY use the drugs that will help me. I told my doc I was tired of the horrible side effects and lethal interactions and he actually agreed with me. So I'm finally on a "working" med cocktail that doesn't make me a zombie and I can finally drive safely...... yes thanks to my pharmacist who helped me along the way. I'm now free of drugs that show up on drug tests as something they're not and I don't have to explain to a new employer that I have a mental illness, which last I saw was the reason behind HIPPA, which I have found to be a total crock because I had to obtain written verification from my docs what meds I was on and why before I was deemed hireable, which is another crock because HIPPA laws don't protect a prospective employee and the employer, once they find out you are on a huge med cocktail for a mental illness, won't hire you anyway. Yes I've gotten off on a tangent but employers are no different than social workers etc and everyone pre-judges based on test results or a paper from a doc. Keep in mind that HIPPA laws were made to protect the medical community not the patients.
