I Believe I May Have Add Or Adhd...
UpdatedAnd possibly may need ritalin-- how does one go about being tested for adult ADD or ADHD and figuring out the treatment for it? I have trouble finishing projects and tasks; my focus is off in some way that makes me think tht perhaps this has always been a problem for me. I realize that no one will prescribe Ritalin without a diagnosis, but what if one sincerely thinks one may have this illness? I don't want to be considered a "drug seeker." My life would become so much easier if I could focus on the work I need to do.
Thanks...

Hi Melinda,
I completely understand what you're going through. I have dealt with ADD as a child and still suffer as an adult. I've tried medication and I found that in time, it did more harm to my body than good. I've learned that the best way to stay focused is to write lists, work on goal setting, and exercise (outdoors, if at all possible); to help get rid of excess energy and to refresh the mind. There are also many supplements that can be used to help increase focus, i.e.: Ginkgo Biloba. I personally think that green and black tea are also helpful when lacking "mental clarity". Also, I don't know what your views/opinions are regarding medical marijuana; but I believe that it is quite helpful when used in moderation.
Here is a link to a blog post that talks about ADD and other ways of naturally treating it: urbanorganicnews.com/natural-remedies-adult-add
I think this post offers some great advice and I definitely resonate with it, I hope you will too!
I too, have had ADD/ADHD since as long as I can remember. Only, when I was a child, it was not something "diagnosed." I was the kid in the class who always got letters sent home regarding how I was unable to stay seated, unable to pay "attention" etc.{I'm 61} The disorder affected me all my life until I finally went to a doctor who assessed me and put me on the medication Adderall. The medication literally changed my life! I wish I had not waited so long! Ritalin also works for me. I'm not saying it will help you because everyone is different but go see a doctor and find out!
Don't wait; there's more to life than being constantly in a state of→ "Now where did I put my 20th lost pair of glasses!

i read your given this information about ritalin i have some information about it what i share with you RITALIN is a central nervous system stimulant prescription medicine. It is used for the treatment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). RITALIN may help increase attention and decrease impulsiveness and hyperactivity in patients with ADHD.
RITALIN should be used as a part of a total treatment program for ADHD that may include counseling or other therapies.
RITALIN is also used in the treatment of a sleep disorder called narcolepsy.
RITALIN is a federally controlled substance (CII) because it can be abused or lead to dependence. Keep RITALIN in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse. Selling or giving away RITALIN may harm others, and is against the law.
Tell your doctor if you or your child have (or have a family history of) ever abused or been dependent on alcohol, prescription medicines or street drugs.
