Sometimes, when one has serious health problems, it is better to accept that you must take medications for the rest of your life. There is no shame in it. I am a heart patient and my husband has epilepsy, and as much as we wish it weren't so, we will both have to take medications for the duration of our lives, just like you, who has to deal with severe chronic pain, every day.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
Why are you so worried about taking it? As long as you aren't abusing, there is nothing to worry about.
