I Am Coming Up On 3 Years Since I Quit Smoking And I Can Assure Anyone That It Would Never Have Been Possible Without Chantix
UpdatedIt has been nearly 3 years since I quit smoking and with only minor urges that last only a few seconds, It was the easiest thing I have ever accomplished. I had tried many stop smoking aids and some helped but none ever addressed the true addiction. My doctor kept telling me to quit and told me that Chantix could help but I felt that it was only another money pit for something that would not be successful. But when I got to where I could not get out of bed in the morning before I coughed to the point of exhaustion, I knew it was time to do something quick. I call my doctor and got a prescription for Chantix. I followed the direction and even waited an additional week before quiting just to make sure my mind was set. That is where Chantix helped. All the other times I tried to quit I could not get my mind off of smoking. Even weeks after I was able to quit it was a constant battle to not think about wanting a cigarette but with Chantix that was just not a problem.
I still have an occasional desire for a smoke but it only last a few seconds and I just tell myself that I don't smoke any more and the urge passes that fast. I can even be around other smokers or in bars without a desire to lite up. I know I have made it now because being near smokers or smoking areas smells awful. My wife stills smokes but she will not smoke around me of in our family cars and I do want her to quit because I see her getting to where I was with the excessive coughing. Thanks Chantix. You have helped me take control of my life and given me more time to enjoy my 5 grandchildren. I would strongly recommend to anyone, Try Chantix. It could make that difference and help you quit too.

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for sharing your feedback on how Chantix had helped you to quit smoking. My dad who is 62 now also used to be a heavy smoker, inhaling close to a pack a day for about 40 years. But to my surprise ended up going cold turkey about 3 years ago after experiencing the same excessive coughing attacks that you had mentioned. I don't think that cold-turkey works for everyone, but there is something about being in a certain mental state before pursuing this, that enables you to practically will your way through the worst of it. My mom who was a heavy smoker too at one point, ended up using acupuncture to quit successfully. Though when it's all said and done the end result is what really matters; and that is you have little or no desire to continue smoking anymore. Hopefully with enough support and encouragement, your wife will eventually find her path to quitting as well. I just know from my experience that it can be done in multiple ways when she is ready to make that leap of faith.
