I was given a blood test for drugs/alchoh. I tested positve for having Methamphetamine in my system.. I also have Multiple Sclerosis and take many drugs {perscribed) I have never touched meth. Why is this possible for Meth to be in my system?

Hi Sussy,

Lately there has been a significant increase in the number of patients reporting false-positives on their drug tests. It's gotten to the point where I'm beginning to think that anything is likely to show up, no matter what drug you took. Just know that you're certainly not alone on this matter and something will eventually have to give before too many people complain about these faulty drug tests.

If you're able to I would also ask your doctor if additional testing may be done on the original sample so that a second sample may be taken. Unfortunately, the standard tests typically used for screenings often lack the sensitivity to distinguish beyond the basic structures of the drug class vs. the drug name.

I hope this helps!
