I Have To Be On Pain Pills The Rest Of My Life Neck Fusion And Inoperaperal Torn Tendon Doctors Dont Want Give Me
UpdatedThe doctors don't want to give me the acedamentaphon, I keep telling them besides the neck and back problems I have pancreas and diverticulitus problems and the act. helps with the diaraherra causes by those two problems. What do I have to do to make them understand. Not to mention the doctor raises his voice and slams his fist on the counter when I tell him I cannot take morphine and he gives me oxycodon, another part of morphine. Three other doctors have told me it is. He swears it is not.

Oxycodone is not a part of Morphine, it is a completely different opiate narcotic. Thus, it is distantly related to it, but it is not Morphine.

And they don't want to give you Acetaminophen, due to the diverticulitis and pancreas issue, it can actually aggravate those issues and make them much worse.

The best suggestion I can make here is to stop fighting your doctors, they have studied for years to provide the best treatment options for their patients and, if you want them to help you, you need to be cooperative and at least try the medications they want to prescribe.
If there's something that you're allergic to and/or had severe reactions to, then it's fine to tell them that, but when it comes to the nature of a drug and the best options to treat any condition, or what to stay away from, they really do know more than you do.
What is your current medication regimen?
Acetaminophen is not going to help your pain much if you need Morphine or Oxycodone to treat it, but if you want it that bad, why don't you just go to the drug store and buy it? It's over the counter for a reason, you know...
Also, what the last person said is true. Oxycodone is not the same thing as morphine and acetaminophen could worsen some of your issues... but if you still want it, you can buy it pretty much anywhere w/ out a prescription.
I am a retired nurse. Please do not any pain Meds until you go see a Gastroenterologist and see what they say about your condition!!. I have the exact problems you have and you need to go see a Gastroenterologist Surgeon and tell him what your going through. Diverticulosis & diverticulitis can be (marked) and you possibly need surgery like I did. Believe me, I went through the same thing when I was 36 and 20 yrs of agony IBS & marked Diverticulosis throughout my entire Colon and part of my small. Narcotics will make that pain so much worse!! I just went through all the withdrawals from 22 yrs of that nasty stuff and I am completely clean now. If you take narcotics it will make you think everything is ok when you could be having a serious blockage and you could get peritonitis and die! Get to a Gastroenterologist as soon as you can. Good luck and stay strong hon
thats not neccessary if you are in pain regardless you need a pain pill!
ron, in some situations taking pain meds can make a problem much worse.
Plus, it's really bad for the liver. I have HepC. That's why Norco and not Vicodin. At least at the time, the least amount of acetaminophen in Vicodin was 500mg. Norco, 325mg. I could be mistaken, but I thought I read that Vicodin has reduced it's Acetaminophen to 325 mg., but who cares. It's the same thing. Hydrocodone.
Robert, prescription meds cannot have more than 325 mg Tylenol (Acetaminophen) in them as of a few yrs ago.
