I Cant Get Off Lyrica
UpdatedI've been taking Lyrica for 7 years for residual pain resulting from 2 spinal operations. The pain has diminished and I want to stop taking Lyrica. I've tapered down from 75 mg a day to 25 mg a day, but when I try to stop entirely I feel very dizzy and feel that I will black-out. I've tried to taper off very slowly, but I can't tolerate missing even one dose.

Hi Carrie,
Sorry to hear about your trouble with Lyrica. Your certainly not alone, as there are many others here in the forums dealing with this mess of a drug. The best approach I can recommend trying, is to take a fraction of the 25mg tablet (actually cut into pieces), and then work your way down from there over the course of several weeks.
If you're open to trying it, might I suggest using medical marijuana to help you taper down and adjust to a lower dose of lyrica in a more feasible manner?
I hear you loud and clear Carrie Lee!! I regrettably went on a much higher dosage, and now would have rather signed up for voluntary torture! I have NO doubt that the company knew all about the addictive potential from the very beginning and because of this even if there is a legal suit someday, the massive amount of money they have made it won't even put a dent in it so they don't care!!
Anyway, from past experience, (yes I was stupid enough to go back on it) but when I was on your dosage, I opened the capsules and poured out just a tiny bit increasing it day by day. The capsules go back together so you don't have to just take the powder. This worked for me but took about three weeks to make it as comfortable as possible. If this isn't something you want to do, you can ask your Dr. for Gabapentin (same drug but weaker). This has worked for some pple. Good luck and stay with it, it's a nasty drug, and I wish I would have never done it, but as you know, it was "supposed to be safe and non-addictive" NOT!!
Take care!
this is exactly what I'm going through I call it Lyrica Hell and I've tried tapering down and get so sick I cannot function at all.
