What is the difference betweer Hyomax SR and Hyomax ER?

I find it odd how one is slow release and one is extended release. It is basically the same thing. My guess is that the two are made from different manufacturers, so in turn, they had to give a different name to the one they produced? Otherwise it doesn't seem logical to have two names for the same drug, as there is no difference in my opinion between slow release and something that releases over an extended period of time. I wonder if a pharmacist would have a logical answer to this reasoning...
