Hydroxyzine Amoxicillin Palpitations Dizzy

Hi, I need someone's help. I was temporarily out in Amoxicillin until I weined my breastfed daughter to continue with doxycycline after as I was diagnosed with lymes. Last Saturday I accidentally took one 25mg Hydroxyzine instead of Amoxicillin. I felt ok that night bit the next day I was in an almost sedation and couldn't get up was dizzy and heart palpitations. Come Monday I got more dizzy to the point that my two children were a blur and ended up in emergency room. I been dizzy all week. Stopped the amoxicillin when this started my palps been 20 to 30 seconds apatt constantly at times and can't breath in fully. Can't do anything without dizziness and breathing getting worse. Was in 48 hour monitor..won't have results till next week. I've always in and off had low pressure heart rate and low iron. Not sure what happened but very scared.

Wow, that sure sounds like a scary experience to have, especially with children to take of. If I had to guess I'd assume this might've been some sort of allergic reaction. When I look at the list of side effects for Amoxicillin on NIH.gov they describe an allergic reaction as involving: "Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, & trouble breathing". - Whereas they recommend contacting your doctor as soon as possible. It seems like you did the right thing by stopping the Amoxicillin, but this story serves as a grave reminder of just how serious some of these side effects can be (in many cases turning out to be worse than the very problem they're used to treat).

At any rate, I see you posted your thread back on Dec. 3rd, so hopefully you've managed to make a complete recovery from this otherwise devastating situation. A happy new year awaits!
