Methadone should actually be a last resort, because it is highly habit forming, even if you only take it as prescribed, it can very difficult to ever stop taking and some people end up having to remain on it for life.
There are other medications available that are stronger than the Hydromorphone, such as Fentanyl, which is available in a time released patch, so you may want to speak to your doctor about trying it.
The FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
