Hydromorphone Not Showing Up In Urine Test

I have been taking three 4mg hydromorphone pills per day, for the past several months for chronic neck, back and leg pain. During two recent urine tests, the hrdromorphone was detected...but at a calculation smaller than what the doctor expected. My last urine test showed that NO hydromorphone was detected in my urine...even though I continued to take the pills as prescribed. What might cause these false readings. I take a regimen of other medications for other medical challenges, I also suffer from IBS and go to the restroom frequently each day and I am on a direuratic which causes me to urinate many times each day. Can these conditions contribute to a false reading? Also, whom may I contact for additional information?

Your prescribing physician for your hydromorphone should have a complete list of all your medications and should understand the varying metabolic insufficiency that may be precipitated by the use of diuretics. In my experience it is exceedingly rare this can happen but in medicine anything is possible. As you know dilaudid (also known as hospital heroin or hillbilly heroin) has a very high abuse potential especially when diverted or used intravenously. So it's incumbent on prescribers to exercise caution in prescribing this drug, which is why they are so strict in regulating this med. Be honest and stand your ground. I send you all my best.
