Hydromorphone And Late Side Affects
UpdatedI have been taking a low dose Hydromorphone 2mg 3 times daily for 2 years now due to chronic pain from injuries I sustained in an accident. I want to eventually get off this drug all together, because truthfully I am afraid of this narcotic. My question is this, is it possible to experience side affects now after 2 years being on it? Recently, in the last few weeks I have been experiencing things that didnt bother me before with this drug. I dont know if its the drug thats doing this. I have severe drowsiness that comes and goes throughout the day, to the point where I have to hang on to the walI, it feels like I am going to pass out. I have abdominal pain, i am feeling fatigue and muscle pain throughout my body, and loss of balance alot. Is it possible to have these occuring now after all this time.? I hope someone can help me with this. Thank you.

Hello, Pina! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems that you're experiencing.
Those don't sound like side effects that an opiate would normally cause. The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
While it's always possible to suddenly experience new side effects, because our bodies do change with time, they are generally consistent and linger for awhile, so drowsiness and dizziness wouldn't typically come and go like that.
Are you on any other medications? Have you ever suffered dehydration? How much fluid do you take in each day?
Hello there, thank you kindly for replying back. No I am not on any other meds, and I do drink a lot of water throughout the day. My mobiility is very limited due to my injuries but I am in therapy still after 2 years. I am quite puzzled as to why I am experiencing these symptoms. I dont drink or smoke, and I dont eat junk food. I do have muscle atrophy as a result of little mobility because of the injuries. I know it is habit forming and highly addictive which is why eventually I want to get off these, at the same time I still need sometihing for pain because it is excruciating to walk. So I dont know what to do.......Regards.
Hello. I haven't been taking my hydromorophone in four months and I have been on it for years. The doctor is taking a blood test to see how it's working. Does the blood test show the doctor how much hydromorophone is in my blood or what is he looking for? And if I take a few pills the day before the test will i be ok for the blood test?
