Hydromorphone 4mg Or Dilaudid

My Dr. had me on percocet but I was have nightmares on it, so he switched me to Morphine 15mg for break through pain and Morphine 30mg for long lasting. Nether percocet or morphine were working so he switched me to Dilaudid 4mg, and when I take one pill I don't feel anything but if I take two all I want to so is sleep. Is there anything that I can do about this, and is there one pain medicine that works better then another? I mean where on the pain chart does Dilaudid fall under. pls help so that I can ask my Dr. to help with the pain but sleep 14 hours during the day as well as 9 hours as night.

take loratab 10 - watson 533 brand. they are strong and wont give you nightmares

Rosanna, it's really going to be a matter of trial and error to find out what medication works for you, without causing too many problematic side effects.

As to the Dilaudid, how long have you been taking it?

You may just need to give it more time. The side effects, such as the drowsiness that you're experiencing, usually only last for about 4 to 6 weeks, then start to taper off, once your body has adjusted to the medication.

And I am very sorry that you're having such problems, but really that is just the nature of narcotic opiates. You aren't going to find any that are side effect free, they can all cause these types of problems.
