Hydrocodone Yellow Norco 10 325 Availability (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have a prescription for the yellow norco 10 325. I've taken these for years and now I can't get them. The white ones does not help. I have Arthritis very bad and I really need to know who still carries them in the Mansfield, Arlington, Texas area. I'm 70 and these are the only ones that helps without me having to sleep my life away on the stronger pain meds that I have taken. I'm 70 so I'll probably be sleeping soon enough. SO in the mean time I would like to have my yellow norco 10 325 back.

Darwinski, the pharmacist said it is their decision. Just like it is their decision if they fill a rx. I have heard of other pharmacys telling their customers they won't be able to get refills effective Oct 6, even if the rx was written before Oct 6 with refills.

I wonder if the pharmacys will say it is due to costs being more connected with Schedule II's than Schedule III's. It will be interesting to see how wide spread this will be. But, even though it is part of the federal law, I have no doubt the DEA will side with the pharmacy.

Wow, that is too bad. I checked with my pharmacy today, and it is any NEW prescriptions - just the way the law was written. So, if you have refills as of the 5th, you are fine.

If I were you, I would go on the internet to your crappy pharmacy's website, and transfer it to another pharmacy that actually knows what they are doing.

I'm just going to ask my doctor to write out 3 scripts at one time for me to hold onto and use as they come due. Hopefully he does this or I will simply have to do like I did when I was taking the morphine pills. Make a long drive to their office every month to pick up the script. It's a hastle, but still much better then living in pain.We have the i****s that steal and then overdose on these pills, to thank for this new law.

Darwinski , it's not my pharmacy. Someone I've been helping uses that pharmacy. But, I do know the pharmacy manager from church. He said that is the policy the home office has adopted. They were busy when I went in to inquire about it so we didn't have the opportunity to speak at length about it.

Robspace1 , Federal Law states that your dr can give you up to 3-30 day rxs. He can give you all three rxs at the same office visit, although he may not choose to do that.

Does a pharmacy have the right to refuse to give a refill on a prescription written and first filled in September 2014 (with two refills) after October 6th, 2014, even though the federal law allows them to do so. If they refuse to give the refill, which they can do under the new law if the refills are before April 2015 and the original prescription was in September, 2014 and they have no reason to refuse to give the refill except it's too much trouble to bother with it, are they being out of compliance with the new federal law or do they have a right to refuse to give the refill just because they don't want to be bothered?

JJ-You, as the patient, are the only one that can get the Yellow Norco. The doctor won't search the pharmacies for you. I'm lucky, in that my doctor has the secure system, that allows him to continue to fax the rx to the pharmacy. But, it has to be a pharmacy that is on that system. I lucked out again in that my pharmacy has the yellow ones AND their on the secure system.

So, the new law has no effect on me. If I were you, I'd refuse, in advance, any white Norco. Just ask the pharmacy when you drop off the script, if they have the yellow ones. If not, take it to another pharmacy. I just called around town and asked who had them. two places still had them, so thats where I went. You can change pharmacies any time you want. If my pharmacy stops selling the yellow ones, and I can't find them anymore, I'll ask my doctor to put me back on the MS Contin again.

Their now both in the same drug category 2,. But, thats morphine and norco is codeine, big difference between relaxed and zombie state. I prefer the relaxed pain relief of Norco. The morphine is just too much. Makes me want to sit down and not get up! lol - the Norco makes me get up and do my dishes, even in some pain. But, just call around, they still make em!

I have already gone that route, about a year before the law went into effect, the chain pharmacy I was driving 20 min. One way to get them at stopped carrying the yellow ones (10/325mg) norcos and went to the white malli's. So I called around & found a small independent one that was 45 mins drive one way & switched them for about a year and a half. Then just as the law was changing a friend wanted to know where I got them so I told her. She went and they told her We are not accepting any new pain patients because supplies are limited and we want to be able to take care of the patients we have. Then they stopped being able to get them also & went to the white watsons. They also start limiting how many they gave out & right after the law changed they said we aren't going to be able to give you all of these at once but then they noticed how far I was driving and made an exception. I have had people I know tell me they had to wait 2 weeks to get theirs. Just last week a friend called me & said they took theirs down to the pharmacy and couldn't get it for 5 days. I live in a small town with 2 pharmacies but it is like that all over this area. I live in central California. So changing might not be smart right now. But if I could find them I would still want them over the others because they work the best for me.

The yellow football shaped pill with the v on one side and 3601 on the other are 10/325 qualitest made in Alabama tho they were bought by par pharmaceuticals which also make hydrocodone... call around and ask the pharmacist if they carry qualitest and if they say they carry par ask if they are the yellow ones made in Alabama; some still mark the script bottle as qualitest and some mark as par.... quickest way is to call around. I know it's a pain but it is also a distraction from the pain.... be well and pray for healing.

Yellow Norco is name brand. My insurance paid for it, but at a higher co-pay. They were $500 my co- pay was $70. For 180 Ct. Yes they are stronger than the white GENERIC. It's the fillers that make the difference. The pharmisit will tell you it's the same active ingredient. That half true there's less of it. Once I was on Medicare. My Medicare D won't pay for it so had to take the generic. It's more stomach upsetting takes longer to get into your system & 1 1/2 to get the same effect as name brand which I only took one. 180 Ct of generic is like $200 plus but co-pay $10 on Medicare d plan United Healthcare

Why would you not be able to get the refills?

Darwinski, Schedule II meds can't be refilled. Norco and other hydrocodone combination meds will be moved from Schedule III to Schedule II October 6, 2014, by Federal Law. Which means this will go into effect in every state. You have to have a new prescription from your dr each time you get it filled. They also will no longer be able to be called in.

BL,

If you had a prescription with refills that was issued before the cut-off date of October 6th, you can still get the refills.

This was an exception included in the law.

Darwinski, I saw a patient information notice from a local pharmacy. It states that if you have a rx that was written before Oct 6 and it has refills that you will not be able to get them as of Oct 6.

BL:

While that may be the case, there is an exception in the LAW set forth by the federal government, that specifically states that any remaining refills "that are issued before October 6, 2014, and authorized for refilling, may be dispensed in accordance with 21 CFR 1306.22-1306.23, 1306.25, and 1306.27, if such dispensing occurs before April 8, 2015."

Prescriptions. All prescriptions for HCPs must comply with 21 U.S.C. 829(a) and must be issued in accordance with 21 CFR part 1306 and subpart C of 21 CFR part 1311 as of October 6, 2014. No scripts for HCPs issued on or after October 6, 2014 shall authorize any refills. Any prescriptions for HCPs that are issued before October 6, 2014, and authorized for refilling, may be dispensed in accordance with 21 CFR 1306.22-1306.23, 1306.25, and 1306.27, if such dispensing occurs before April 8, 2015.

So, either you mis-read the patient notice, or the pharmacy that published it is misinformed and/or doesn't know or care.
