Hydrocodone Side Effects

I am recovering from surgery and I have found that the little solid white hydrocodone 5/325's make my skin itch and burn horribly and also make me feel wired like I had 5 pots of coffee. The brands with the little red or blue specks, as well as the ones with the peach color (Norco I believe) do not have any of these side effects for me. The pharmacist doesn't believe me because she says it's all the same drug but there is a DRASTIC difference for me. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what is the cause?

There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredients from one generic to another. They are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredients.

For most people, since these differences are very slight, it doesn't cause a problem, but if you're sensitive to medications, you might encounter problematic issues.

Alternatively, you could be allergic to one of the inactive ingredients, since those don't have to be the same from one pill to the next, at all.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

If your insurance will cover it, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe it as 'brand medically necessary', or whatever the equivalent is in your state, to avoid such issues in the future.
