Hydrocodone Shortage In St. Lucie Florida
(Newest replies first)

Anyone know of a Florida pharmacy that is filling written prescriptions for hydrocodone? Have not been able to fill for almost a month. I live in St. Lucie county. What the neck is going on?

Percocet contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen, while Roxicodone just contains Oxycodone by itself.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
Thanks for the recommendation, but the only other pain medication that I know I'm not allergic to is R oxicodone. What's the difference between Percocet and Roxicodone?
A low dose Percocet might help and would be close in strength, if you were prescribed the 5/325 dosage. It contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. It's just a suggestion of something to ask your doctor about.
How are you feeling?
I have an appt w/doc on Monday and will see if I can try something else until I can get back to hydrocodone. I really don't want to go to something stronger than the hydrocodone though. I wonder if the DEA thought of that when they changed from a schedule 3 to a schedule 2!! That some of us would have to move to something that I feel is stronger!!!! Fricken' i****s!!
Thanks for the response. I have been taking hydrocodone for 10 years, because I am allergic to morphine. I'm aware of the change from a class 3 to a class 2. But I have never had a problem filling my prescription until now.
I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.
This medication was changed to a schedule 2 drug at the beginning of October, which created a delay shipping it to pharmacies due to necessary labeling changes.
On top of that, we are into the time of year when there is almost always a shortage of controlled substances, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their limit for the year, they can not manufacture new product, until the new year. Every year that I can remember, demand has exceeded supply and resulted in shortages.

The best suggestion I can make is that you speak to your pharmacist to see what they do have in stock and then ask your doctor if they can prescribe it, in the meantime.
Does anyone else have any advice or ideas to offer?
