Hydrocodone-delayed Side Effects (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking hydrocodone APAP 5/325 for knee and joint pain(1-2 tabs. approximately 3-times weekly) for the past 6 months with limited side effects ( sweating). 2 days ago, I began to have severe dizziness, nausea, sweating approximately 1-2 hours after taking a dosage of 1-2 pills. I cannot find any difference in medications, habits, etc. that may be contributing to the sudden onset of the otherwise common side effects. Is it common for side effects to manifest themselves after no problems for 6 months?

I wouldn't say it is common, but yes, it can happen, allergic reactions can also happen unexpectedly, even after having used something for a long time.
Did you suddenly get a different generic from your pharmacy?
The FDA does allow generics to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brands by as much as plus or minus 20%, so this could be a contributing factor as well.
It almost sounds like you a teetering on the brink of either withdrawals or overdose.
This is a narcotic, so even a slight variation in dosage could cause either.

I've heard that generics can vary slightly and may have different effects. Don't think that is the case with me, but is something to keep in mind.
I was wondering about delayed side effects as well. I have taken vicodin (at various strengths) for years. After a couple surgeries, my doctor switches me from oxycodone, to dilaudid, to vicodin for breaththru medicine (I take oxycontin 40 mg for extended release. It gives me the worst headache, makes my symptoms worse. I am extra-irritable and I can't sleep until total exhaustation. I would like to switch back to the dilaudid because although it caused side effects, they were minimal. I do not know how to explain this to my doctor today~I never know whether he is going to be compassionate or if he is going to treat me like a junkie. I am really ready to just give up
My surgeon prescribed hydrocodone acetaminophen for post-hemorrhoidectomy pain. I only took it for three days before switching to NSAIDS. However, mild skin itching began two weeks to the day after ceasing the hydrocodone. Could this itching be a delayed side effect of the hydrocodone? There is no rash or redness associated with the itching.
