Hydrocodone Bad To Presribe When You Have Hep C

I have PTPS due to Thorecotomy surgery. I also have HEP C. My PM doctor has prescribed me Norco 10-325. Wouldn't it make more sense to prescribe oxycodone without Tylenol??? How do I bring this up to him without sounding like I'm questioning his doctor abilities? I don't want to offend him, but I just don't understand why here give me Tylenol based meds with a liver disease.

It may have slipped your doctor's mind, they do have a lot of patients and diagnoses to keep track of every day. It would be best to just sit down and honestly tell him your concern about taking it.

You don't have to seem like a drug seeker, you can avoid asking for a specific medication to replace it, just leave that in his hands and tell you that you're worried about taking the Acetaminophen.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Does anyone else have any advice to add?

I have seen multiple articles saying acetaminophen a.k.a. paracetamol is toxic to your liver. Two docs have told me "Ah, I give it to my liver transplant patients." So? Depends on who you ask but I believe McNeil pharmaceuticals is lining their pockets with the "Tylenol is safe" campaign. I disagree but there is lots of pro and con opinions from MD's out there.
