I am currently yaking 300mg Motrin for arthritis pain. Developed severe sciatica and was prescibed Hydrocodone APAP 5 mg /325mg. Am 78 years old 122 pound. Is that too much painkiller, what are the side effects.

Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen are the active ingredients in Vicodin, it's a narcotic analgesic and this is the lowest dosage available.
However, only you and your doctor can decide whether or not it's the right medication for you.
The side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation.

I am smaller than you and was recently taking one in a higher dosage, prescribed by my dentist for the pain from an infection. The worst problem I had from it was the nausea.
