Is Hydrocodone Apap 10 325 safe to take if I am allergic to Codeine ?

That's actually a good question, because Hydrocodone is a derivative of codeine. However my mom is allergic to codeine as well and she's on the same dose of Hydrocodone apap (10/325) right now and hasn't had any bad reactions other than the typical itching sensation that is sometimes associated with this combination.

She was also initially worried about an allergic reaction but hasn't experienced one. With codeine she would break out in hives and whatnot. So I can only base my answer off of her experience, in that it should be fine since it's a derivative of codeine and not actual codeine.

They aren't the same substance, though they are distantly related, so being allergic to Codeine doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a problem with the Hydrocodone.

However, there is still a small chance that you could be allergic to it, too. Have you checked with your doctor, or pharmacist about using it?

I've successfully used Hydrocodone and am also allergic to Codeine, the only problem I had with the Hydrocodone was it made me very nauseous.
