You really can't compare them, since they aren't in the same drug classes.
The Hydrocodone in the Vicodin/Lortab is a potent narcotic analgesic.
But the Tramadol is just a centrally acting analgesic, though it is derived from an opiate, it is nowhere near as strong and effective as the opiate narcotic class.
Both can be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
