I have been taking Hydrocodon-APAP 10-325 2 PILLS EVERY 4 HOURS 3 to 4 times a day for 15 years. My problem is the last few prescriptions I've received have not done much to help with the pain. The last few prescriptions are Watson 853 tablets. I have taken as many as 4 to 4 & 1/2 pills within an hour & a half & it was like I was taking nothing!! I have heard that sometimes the medicine is replaced with a placebo or that the Government is cutting down the ingredient that actually give fast pain relief. Is there any truth to this or what is the problem?

Nok that is not true, if you receive them from a licensed U.S. pharmacy, everything they dispense must meet the same FDA efficacy standards. It is warned that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

However, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, they are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredients, by as much as plus or minus 20%. Generics also do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand, so the one you were given, now, might be slightly lower than the ones you were taking, before.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Please be careful taking so many tablets, at once, because there is a risk of overdosing on the Acetaminophen in these tablets, which could be fatal.
