Hydrocodone 10/325 Dosing

Hi, I'm a 27 year old male with 2 thoracic disc protrusions, 1 lumbar protrusion, also have facet disease through entire spine. Also cord impingement in both of the thoracic disc areas. My question is that I'm currently on three 10/325 hydrocodone a day, but I'm finding im needing more than the 3 a day to manage my pain. Is it possible or safe to take 4-5 of these a day? I've been on hydrocodone for 3 years now and at most I only get about an hour of relief from my current dose.

The main concern is actually the Acetaminophen that's in them, taking too much of it in a day can result in overdose toxicity, which could lead to liver damage, failure or even death.

4 or 5 of them in a day isn't an unreasonable dose, but only your doctor can decide if it's safe for you to take that many. They may even prefer prescribing a different medication to control your pain that doesn't have Acetaminophen in it.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
