Hydroco Apap Tab 5 325 Mg Or Oxycodone Cap 5mg

I am currently taking OXYCODONE CAP 5MG and
I will soon run out of these cap.
I have plenty of Hydro Apap Tab 5 325 mg tablets. Can I take these instead to use them up. Then request a prescription for the OXYCODONE CAP 5MG

The Hydrocodone isn't quite as strong as the Oxycodone, so you might not get the same amount of relief from it, though the Acetaminophen in it may help a little, with that.

To be specific, the tablet you mentioned contains 5mgs of the Hydrocodone and 325mgs of the Acetaminophen.

Since it still contains a narcotic, the side effects are about the same as what you are used to with the Oxycodone and can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

If oxycodone-apap 5/325 and hydrocodone-apap 5/325 have the same amount of acetaminophen and narcotic, why would one be prescribed over the other? Is one timed release?

geomrqtt, no, neither one is time released.

However, as I said in my original post, Oxycodone is stronger than Hydrocodone, so a medication that contains it may work better for some people.

And not all medications work the same for everyone, so even though it isn't as strong, the Hydrocodone may work better for some people.

Just because they are both narcotics, doesn't necessarily mean they are equivalent, since some are stronger than others. Many doctors will prescribe one over the other, depending on which they have found, from experience with other patients, to be the most effective for certain types of pain and conditions.
