Humira Caution

I've been taking Humira for about three years. I recently caught my first bacterial infection. It is called campylobacter. I was told by doctor that campylobacter is a common bacteria but because of my compromised immune system due to humira use the bacteria invaded my system and made me very ill. Easily conquered with anti biotics but not pleasant at all. Severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fever of 103 for about 5 days and dehydration. I believe I got the bacteria from a deli sandwich but am not entirely sure but that was the only thing I ate the day before my symptoms started. I was in quarantine in the hospital for 5 days. This is the only bacterial infection that I have come across during the three years I have taken Humira.

I'm very sorry about what happened to you and want to thank you for posting a warning for others. Medications, such as Humira can suppress the immune system, so such infections can happen more easily than usual.

Hi. I just wanted to let people know about campylobacter because humira impacts the immune system. The infection hit so fast that I just wanted people on humira to be cautious, not so much of the medicine, but of the bacteria. Websites for humira do not list the types of bacterial infections to be aware of. I hope others will respond with bacteria infections they have come across while taking humira.

Recently the Humira auto-syringe has changed. Has anyone else had misfires? I've had several in the last 6 weeks. It was all ok prior to this change.

Can I use humira if it's 6 months past the expiration date? It's well protected in the refrigerator and there is no color change. Thanks in advance.
