How To Tell If Birth Control Pills Are Monophasic?
UpdatedPeople told me that for any brand of birth control pills if all tablets in a blister of 21 tablets have the same color, they are all the same (i.e. contain the same amount of different types of ingredients). Is this always true?
(I am asking because many people think that you have to take the tablets in a blister in the order indicated by the arrows on the blister but if they are all the same it doesn't matter as long as you take one tablet every day when you are supposed to take an active tablet).
The thing is, not every birth control pill says explicitly that it is monophasic but they have all the tablets of the same color and packages with arrows on them.

If the pills in a pack of oral contraceptives are different in the amount of hormones, then that is specified on the packaging, and you are warned to take them in strict order by your doctor, or pharmacist, and yes, they are usually different colors to help enable you to tell the difference between the weeks you are taking. The packaging will also list the different amounts of hormones in each weeks tablet. If your package only lists one dosage, then it is monophasic.
The arrows on the blister pack of monophasic pills are there solely to help people remember to take a tablet each day, without skipping any. That is the same reason many of them have days of the week printed on them, even though you don't have to take the pill marked Wednesday, on a an actual Wednesday. It helps people remember to take them, and stay in the habit of taking them. If it's Wednesday, and you are wondering whether or not you already took your pills, it is easy to see at a glance, if you follow the markings on the package. It's a precautionary thing, since missing even one tablet increases the risk of pregnancy.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes.
Is there anything else I can help with?
