How To Request Desoxyn From My Doctor
(Newest replies first)

I have tried every adhd med. Am currently taking adderall 20mg but have been feeling extremely tired all the time for the last 6 months. How should I approach my doctor about trying Desoxyn and which kinds or brands are still available? Or how else can I try it?

Personally, I prefer to go into the office with suggestions as to what I think might be a good idea and get the doctors feedback. They don't alway have all the answers. If you have a good relationship with your therapist, you build trust and they don't default to drug seeking behavior if you want to try something different.
If chronically tired on 20mg, can try increasing the dosage first to see if that will levels you off. Something like Modafinil is supposed to be for daytime sleepiness and has some crossover with how it works with adderall. Although you may still need a light dose of something specifically for the ADHD symptoms. Also discuss how you are sleeping. If the issue is one with not enough sleep or low quality sleep, that should be addressed in other ways.
Every drug comes with warnings from the FDA. Methamphetamine has a negative stigma so in my opinion they play it up more. As far as I know, Desoxyn is no more addictive than Adderall from the reviews I have read.
Usually, it is best to not ask for a specific medication, just let them know that the current on is not working for you. The discussion of alternative options should naturally result from that.
Desoxyn contains Methamphetamine, so it is not generally the first choice used for treatment of ADHD. The FDA warns that it must be used with caution, as it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, anorexia, insomnia, and irritability.
