How To Help Getting Off Oxycodonez (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am currently in rehab recovering from back surgery. I had three herniated disk in my back. My surgeon preformed Anterior Cervical Interbody Fusion surgery. I have been on 2 mg of Oxycodone every four hours around the clock for two months. I am a former heron user and have been clean for 7 years. I tried delaying taking my meds but after 5 to 6 hours, my withdrawal becomes too much. I cannot get the doctors here to understand how drugs effect me as an ex addict. This will not for be nor will I take that chance with my life. It has been great for the past 7 years after 20 years of being addicted. These places give people this drugs and have to plan other than to cut down the dose. I am going to be released in two weeks and have to return to work. I cannot go into detox, I have already been out too long and I am too close to retirement to take a chance. I am stuck and afraid to death. What can I do?

Well, you do have to understand that in such instances, these doctors are trained to relieve pain and help you get back to what they consider a good quality of life. They aren't trained to deal with addiction issues.
Tapering someone off, by gradually lowering the dosage is the normal way they handle things and a 2mg dosage, every 4 hours is not an extremely high one.

The only thing I can really suggest is maybe seeing if you can get a private doctor to help you, once you are released.
Have they suggested a doctor for you to follow up with?
Google the Thomas recipe it will help you get off opiates it will tell you step by step what to do I hope this helps you God bless and good luck
Are they going to taper you and you are worried you won't be able to follow the plan? If that is your concern I freaking get it, I would be worried about my self control too. But if that's the case be honest with them, tell them they have to start the taper with you while your there. If you are just bugging because you don't want to taper at all that means the addiction may be back and you may need more help, which I also get, been there done that. But if you just are worried about the detox during a standard taper don't be scared, you got this BS on lock. Sounds like You've been through much worse 2mgs is nothing. You could cold turkey it no doubt.
