How To Ask A Doctor For Tramadol?

I have never had pain problems until 3 or 4 years ago. I was attacked and it has left with a bad back pain. I never needed surgery but I may need it now since I gained weight and maybe over time it has caused the issue to be worse. It is right above my tail bone or above my butt checks. I don't know if it is from being tense but it is always hurting me to the point I have to take breaks when I am just mopping my small kitchen. Tramadol is what I was given at the time of attack. I had issues getting on government insurance. I need the insurance anyway for mental medication. Problem is I only know of Tramadol of any experience with pain meds. I do not want the Doctor putting me on Percocet or anything like that. I am safe and comfortable with Tramadol. It is the only pain med I have any experience with and it works. The pain is enough when I am not taking pills but not so severe that I need those more serious meds. How do I spefically ask a doctor for Tramadol? I have a meeting on the 21st for the first time in years with a regular doctor. I was a physically active person so I am not even sure if you are suppose to talk to your regular doctor about pain meds. I was buying online overseas but it is not legal to do and I would like to be able to receive medication legally for my pain so it is watched by a doctor and I am not found dead in my apartment one day for taking some pill I don't know anything about. So How I do I ask a doctor about Tramadol? Is it appropriate to bring it up? I'd rather be honest and get what I need instead of sneaking around on the internet.

The best thing to do would be to see a doctor, and rather than asking for any specific medication, explain your issues and pain, as well as making sure they get a full copy of your medical records, so they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past.

The FDA warns that Tramadol carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

There are no guarantees that they will prescribe anything, but this approach generally makes sure that they aren't viewed as just being drug seeking.

Does anyone else have advice to add?
