How Long Will It Take For Increase In Dosage To Work?
UpdatedI've been taking 50 mg of nortriptyline for chronic nerve pain for a few years now. Six days ago, my doctor increased the dosage to 75 mg. he wants me to call him in 2 weeks to let him know how I'm feeling. I haven't noticed a difference yet, as I'm still feeling the same. How long can be until I notice a difference?

Hello, Coofoo! How are you?
It may take 3 to 4 weeks, before the new dosage reaches its full level of efficacy in the body.
The FDA classifies this medication as a tricyclic antidepressant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.
Is there anything else I can help with?
hopefully by that 2 weeks. what kind of nerve pain? if you notice any thing it will be very imperceptable to nothing. if its Peripheral neuropathy use the placebo effect and have a mantra of hearing what your MD says about increasing the dose. It works! Did he say, "We'll increase it to 75mg most patients get full relief at that amount." or "Here, this will work. Take it, and check back in 2 weeks". Keep what he told you in your mind as a mantra. It works! We are finding now in research that pain is all in the head. It's not in that nerve. Your nerve started it but your brain must end it. Use Placebo effect to the max. It doesn't matter if you know what the placebo effect is, for it to work. Kind of like, God doesn't require your belief in him to be real. Trust me you want that pill to work and God to be real and it's the mind that cured your discomfort.
Hmm this is very interesting. i am a young chap myself and the doctor slowly building up the doses from 1-5 pills a day of 10mg each fortnight i have to up a dose by one till the 5 pills are reached a day. then this will continue for 6 months long. 5 years ago i had a disc prolapse and following up discectomy and in inter spacious stabilizer has been placed. after an medical misadventure a year later he has put another stabilizer on the right place. after this i had chronicle back pain. ive tried Pilates acupuncture physio etc etc biking. but nothing seems to work. to come back on the nortripteline i think it does work and helps me with this only i am not out of the woods yet as i am taking this drug only since one month. it makes me very tired.
my question is how hard is this drug frying your kidneys and liver.
