How Long Till Klonopins Out Of My System Entirely?
UpdatedFor starters ive took klonopin .5mg twice a day for 2weeks and lexapro 10mg for 3 weeks now.
The klonopin I was just taken off completely it was just being used till the lexapro took effect. Now my question is when will the klonopin be out of my system? The reason im asking the past 3 days ive been having terrible symptoms that look like side effects of lexapro but also withdraw from klonopin.
So hopefully someone knows when this will be out of my system. I dont know if this is relevant but last time I was at my checkup I weighed 194lbs and was 5'10.

Hi Bruce,
From what I've researched, the estimated elimination half-life of Klonopin is reportedly 30 to 40 hours. Some medical professionals believe that medications take approximately three half-life's in order to be completely excreted from your body - So in terms of Klonopin, this may fall in the range of 3-5 days. However when it comes to withdrawals or side effects (no matter which one you're experiencing), you can't really put an accurate time frame on when or how long you might experience them for, since everyone reacts/responds differently - mentally, emotionally, and physically. So in my opinion, it seems to be a matter of waiting until your body regains a sense of homeostasis, since it takes time to adjust or recover from a chemical imbalance. That said, I would just encourage you to be patient with your body during this fragile state and nurture yourself with nutrient dense foods, adequate rest, light exercise, regular hydration, and low-stress activities whenever possible. That way you can be sure you're doing everything in your power to facilitate/promote healing.
Now in the event that you're not experiencing withdrawals and instead are having side effects from Lexapro (which is a bit of a coin toss it sounds like), I think one of the best things to do would be to look over the following list of side effects - courtesy of NIH.gov - and see what, if any, symptoms correlate with how you're feeling right now:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0044952/#DDIC600627.side_effects_section
Hopefully this helps! Does anyone else have advice from personal experience?
I've been on a medication similar to Klonipin and have had to stop it on 2 different occasions. It sounds like you are experiencing withdrawals and that time frame is based on how sensitive your body is to that medication. Regardless of the rules/regulations/blood-work or whatever, it's how your own body reacts. Don't be alarmed if it takes up to 2 weeks to feel some what free of the medication. A short or long life-in your system means nothing when going off of it completely. I speak as a patient, not a professional.
