The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant, which is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and dry mouth.

It's half-life is approximately 5 to 7 hours and it takes 5 to 6 half-lives to be fully processed from your body, so it would be fully excreted in approximately 30 to 42 hours.
