How Long (in Minutes/hours) Does It Take For Hyzaar To Work
UpdatedThe first question is the subject line.
The second question is my directions state take one every day yet my BP is high several hours before my next dose. I guess taking it twice a day at a lower dosage might be in order. Of course I will run that by my Dr. The question is what potential damage am I incurring during those hours before the next daily dose ?
The third question is, does oxycontin/oxycodone have contraindications taken a few hours before or after the Hyzaar ?

Hello, Capri! How are you?
No, you need to take it consistently every day, don't adjust your dosage or take an additional dosage, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
It is normal to have blood pressure fluctuations throughout the day and pre-med when it's time for the next dose. However, it takes about 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of effectiveness in your body to see how well it is going to work for you.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Oh and no, taking Oxycodone with it is fine, as long as your doctor approves.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
No other questions at this time. Thank you very much.
My husband started taking Hyzaar 50-12.5 five days ago, but haven't seen too much improvement yet. If it is going to work, how long does it take to become effective? Also, he is taking the generic brand (Losartan-HCTZ 50-12.5)
I've just taking the same dosage Aggie but only been 3 days so far. I've not seen any change in my BP so far. I was originally prescribed 100/12.5 but as I was so worried about the side effects (hate meds) my doc said I could start on half and then go up to the whole dosage if I didn't see any change in 3-5 days. On the other side I'm also worried about getting my BP back down to a healthier level! Hope your hubby's improves soon
