I've been taking losartan for 4 weeks for terrible joint pain. I'm going to stop taking it since it has only been a month. Can I just stop it abruptly?

Losartan is used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. It will not do anything to help with joint pain.
And according to FDA reports, stopping it abruptly can create the risk of rebound elevated high blood pressure and elevated heart rate.
Are you on any other medications?

Losartan, i have been taking the 100mg for a week for high blood pressure and i have at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the simptoms in the side effects... its giving major back pain... how fast in your opinion can i stop this???

My father has been taking losartan 25 mg for 2 months and started getting a dry cough for a month now... Do you think this is because of the losartan or atorvastatin medication? Thank you.

Yes that is common side effect of this drug. Me personally I ended up with peripheral neuropathy. After spending thousands of dollars I finally figured out is was the losartan. I STOPPED TAKING IT 3 days ago and symptoms are less intense...I am starting a regiment of vitamin B's to try to protect the nervous system.
This has been the most debilitating experience. Please stop taking this poison.

I was taken off Losartan for the coughing. It was terrible. I was then placed on Losartan/HCTZ and have had no coughing. I've been on this med for one year now. I still get muscle cramps though.

Try eating avacodos they have the most potassium to see if that helps..

I did.. but I had all the bad symptons... since it has only been 4 weeks.. how high was your bp when the Dr put you on it??

I am currently having peripheral neuropathy too from taking Losartan . Stoped taking it in 3 to 4 days my symptoms are better

I am just disgusted with this medicine. I have a tiny bit of kidney problem So was on lisinopril, had reaction so doc switched me to losartan in April of 2017...i have been in the worst pain of my life starting about 6 weeks after I started. I have spent thousands thinking I had lyme and rhematology issues and even neurologic doc visits. Yesterday I decided to research the losartan and found over 100 people who had joint and muscle side effects. I couldn't hardly walk for several months and so I'm on steriods and Meloxicam to cover the pain up barely. Thanks for your post. Will be talking to doc asap.

Hi Gayle. I was wondering how long did you take Losartan, and once you stopped how long did it take to help the side effects? Did you use any vitamins or detox to help get it out and heal faster?

Thank you,My Doctor put me on it June 1(,50mg) and I have been reeling around,staggering, un steady on my feet.2x a day. Also developed very severe chapped lips.I am stopping this Med.and returning to using original Med:Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.
