How Long Does It Take For Oxaydo 7.5 To Work?

I am recovering from the Whipple Procedure for pancreatic cancer performed last April. I have severe and at times chronic pain / nerve damage in the incision area. My Dr started giving me inj's. in my Celius Plexus Right Quadrant, every 3 weeks accompanied by Oxaydo 7.5 mg & Butrans 20 mcg patch. My pain is off the charts & just not quite sure if these meds work. I will be getting my 3rd shot next week - I hope it will be better than the last one. The first inj. I noticed a major difference, but the second one was not as effective.

Hi Tia,

Oxaydo (Oxycodone hydrochloride USP immediate release tablets) should theoretically start working right away, probably after 20 minutes or so, albeit's somewhat different for everyone for various reasons (e.g. taking it with food, on an empty stomach, being opioid naive vs tolerant, receiving an inferior brand/generic with different binders/fillers that hinder absorption & bioavailability because they don't properly metabolize). Any number of these could affect how long it takes to work. However, if you're not getting the desired relief from taking this medication over a period of time it may be best to contact your doctor about switching brands/generics/manufacturers or considering other alternatives.

Its an ir medication, which means it exerts its effects almost immediately. In my experience, 15-20 minutes is about right.
