How Long Does It Take Flagyl To Work?

I went to the doctor 7 days ago and was perscribed flagyl, it has not seemed to work yet. For seven months my stomach had been making loud gurgling noises for no apparent reason. My doctor thought it could bacteria not where it should be. I was not told how long to take the medication but he wants to meet back in 3 weeks. He gave me enough pills to last 3 months. Will this go away sooner than 3 weeks?

It is completely normal for your stomach to do that and everyone's does so, occasionally. Its usually due to stomach acid forming gas and may be related to what you've eaten, something you drank, or even not eating as much as usual.

Flagyl is an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and diarrhea.

At this time, it could even be contributing to the gurgling sounds in your stomach.

What types of foods do you eat? What do you usually drink? How often do you eat? Are you on any other medications?
