Its b/c when they test you but your fiery and they give you script anyway, they take ur uterine to lab then the nextmonth thru KNOW everything may have took whether its a false positive or not and then they drop u from their program normally

It doesn't show on a reg dipstick test they have to send it to a lab I ran into same issue with pm. I have cancer they accused me of not using it my Dr called the pathologist to see why it wasn't showing up cause I just was in the er and hospitalized 1 day before my UA and they gave me iv fentanyl so they knew it should be there. They were told they needed to ask for a specific test for it or it will not be detected. They apologized for accusing me of it and cutting me off of it and leaving me in pain. Hope this ends all the confusion.

I understand that ur a RN but fentanyl doesn't always show on urine test. I know this due to the fact that I wear a 50mcg patch & get tested every 6 mos... I always test neg. The only reason my Dr doesn't give me any probs is due to a. I have one on when I test neg & b. My app area is scarred due to it. I'm no expert in opiod vs opiate but I do have proven knowledge that it doesn't always appear on urine. However, I'm pretty sure it would always appear if sent to a lab or/and done by blood.

Well the reason is it goes by body temperature and it produces more when your body temperature goes up and or if you are running a fever your supposed to take it off cause it can overdose you

Hon you should not have to be dealing with this crap! I hate how those of us that actually validly need pain medication, JUST TO FUNCTION, are paying the price for those who abuse it. You have the right to request that your test be sent to a lab. I'm assuming they are just doing a dipstick. These are quite often not accurate. I've been told I'm not taking my meds, that I'm doing marijuana & even meth. With further lab analysis these have been reversed. In your case where your quality of life & ability to work are at risk I'd contact an attorney. If nothing else you'll have your concerns on record. These Drs, pain clinics & laws are no longer helping those of us who needs it! :(

I have ms and see a pain doc. I used to b on patches. I found my old 75 mcg/h. I only use them if I think I might b short on my norcs. But my doc said he found it in my system a few times. I took it off 3 days before my drop. How long do I have for it to move out of my system ?

I take fentanyl monthly and just switched to OxyContin and oxycodone. I have 9 days to a possible test made the mistake and smoked nearly 13 days ago I don't smoke but happened to at a bachelor party and I took 3 patches 2 days ago so that gives me 11 on patches and 22 on pot. If I get tested am I screwed?

I honestly believe there has to be a special test for it and I also believe that you're OK within 2-4 days depending on how much and how often it was taken, your size etc. Ex; I'm 100lbs 75 mg eaten in a two day period and I believe I'll be OK in my time. 4 days is what I've given myself- if not, I'll try to remember to come back and enlighten everyone. I also believe they need a special dip stick to test for it!! Keeping my fingers crossed, just remember, as I surely will, no use is good use if it's going to cause you problems and I'm speaking mainly to myself!!!! I cut off my noise to spite my face and said the old " I'll show you, I'll hurt me " saying!!! Can't believe I'm going through this shoot again, but the 1st site I posted is TRUE and I know that to be fact due to other meds I am legally prescribed!!!! Hoops Luck Everyone!!

random = occurring without a pattern...so I believe what they meant is that sometimes there's a test, sometimes not. Or maybe they're 'called in' for a test every month; but, don't know when it will occur until it does.

I have been using the patch for several years. Several brands exist and they all work differently (deliver different amount of med w/ same dosage) and stick differently.
The Watson brand is garbage at sticking and should be outlawed due to the ability to smoke it. There might be 1 other brand with gel. Stay away from the gel ones because they only have a small amount of tape.
As far as the 3M tachaderm bandage used for covering IV sites... They work wonders. I used to have failures often which is how I learned about the patches lasting 4-7 days (that and if you divide the total amount in the patch by your dosage then 24 you see it's more than 3 days). It will taper off though. Anyways I only have one failure a month or less now and they are not total failures so no removal I just cut a patch in half and add to it.

As for the testing... Nobody said it so I will. MS stands for mass spectrometer! Google it... To my understanding to test something with a MS you need to have that item on hand. This is why they keep fentynl base at the labs. At least that's my understanding.
Fentynl is harder to test for but is most certainly not impossible to test for. This is why you get the varied responses. A lot of places do their own quick test and then some of those places either send some or all of those specimens to a lab for further testing. Who knows the reasoning they might be using some to double check a failed or some to double check a passed or some only for the first test or every other test... It costs money bottom line! But is ethical and saves them money on insurance. Let's them know if your abusing other drugs but more importantly if you come up clean your taking it all in the first few weeks, selling it, or hoarding it. They don't want any of that because it all equals a major risk of respiratory depression and death by misadventure.
Good luck to all... If you need to get off it carefully try to get your doc to move you to methadone (price is a good reason since it's the cheapest) can't think if the name but the anti diarrhea med based off opiates will not get you high but still attaches to your intestines so helps with the withdrawal. It's over counter in the US.

My urine tests were negative for Fentanyl as well and was threatened w/discontinuation. I went to my primary care and asked for a blood test, which showed positive. When I brought the results to the pain clinic, they explained they test urine to show Fentanyl at a certain level, which was too high for my reading. The pain clinic now tests my urine for a lower level and it shows up everytime.
I don't remember the specific #'s/levels, but ask the pain clinic if they are testing for a certain amount, or ANY amount. That may clear it up. First get a blood test for fentanyl so you'll have the level/#'s to show them.

Just so you n everyone knows if your being tested for any pain med ,and say u dont use it everyday but u need a positive test well you have to at least start taking the med 48-72hours before your test because some place do the stick test and then send it to the lab and if you only took the day before the lab will not find the metabolites or enough of for a positive !!!! That doesn't mean if ur perscribe d say 6 -80mg oxy's a day that you take all 6 each day say your only taking them to get them well u need them in your system for 48-72 hours before for test that would be 18 oxys n if ur not taking them except to pass the test well only take 2 max each day before the test cause if u take the 6 each day that you dont have a tolerance for then the test is the last thing you need to worry about not O.D.'ing n waking up is gonna be ur issue cause all opiates n opiods slow your breathing down ,so when someone O.D.'s in there sleep that means they stop breathing so BE CAREFUL!!
