I agree it is one and the same just a stronger dose which is why it says on every package u must b opiate tolorant some people on here should research before posting lol your right now yes lab will pull up just about everything but not always I almost cost an rn her job for making accusations when she was clearly mistaking and trying to get me fired

I think those who are so sure fentanyl shows up in 12 panel testing are not really researching it. It doesnt show up in mine, and Np always checks my patch. It does show up when it's sent out for confirmation, however. Please take the time to research in case your wrong. I've learned that many pain doctors are not aware till they have an issue with a patient who's not lying, then there are those who just refuse to pay for the confirmation testing, and say it must show no matter what. This has many pain patients freaking out because they don't want to be wrongly accused. When a person is accused and denied meds over doing everything right, it's a trajic. I suffer from organ failure. I am always careful, and I dont abuse meds. I hate that we are guilty till proven innocent. I hope all those who are abusing meds and making it difficult for the rest, are able to get help to get clean.

Sorry and I know how it feels. ive had a herniated disk since my 2006 car accident! After a few years on 10mg 3 a day oxycodone I unexpectedly became pregnant. my doctor didnt want me taking so many pain meds while I was pregnant which was understandable so he wind me down to 60 a day and told me after I had my baby he would put me back to 90..which I think being pregnant I felt so miserable do to more pain in my back! But I agreed with my doctor didnt want my baby to be addicted to opiates so I wouldn't even take them, only when I couldn't get out of bed....so after I had my baby my doctor never put me back on my regular 10mg 3times a day I would tell him I need them as I was taking them before and he never remembered saying that ..that was what he said he was going to do. ive been on opiates since 2008 for so many years and pain taking 10mg which I had my baby in 2011 10mg wasnt even doing much for me anymore! So I got ua a few times I came out negative for opiates. I would have discussions with my doctor everytime that I need to go back to 3 times a day 10mg Percocet again and he never did sometimes. I would need to take more than he wanted me to. So by the time I would go to the doctor I would.gave ran out a few days before my appt so in ua came out negative for opiates and he told me and gave me hard time making me feel like I wasn't taking them and I would tell him u said u would put me back on my 10mg 3times after I had my baby and at sometime I would need to take more then i would when I was pregnant.and.point it out that he never put me back on my regular dose i was on before i got pregnant! So every month I went in I would point it out to him. telling him the 2 a day is not working. he never raised my dose and continue to ua me randomly well I ended up getting two ua negative of opiates and got red flagged and ended up getting screwd and he called me and said he would no longer be giving me pain meds! So thats now on my medical history and I so needed.to be back on my pain meds especially having a baby I was doing more lifting my baby in a carseat and just feeding her while holding her bottle would take a toll on my back! After a year with out a pm care doctor and in and out the er. I finally got a new.pc doctor now because of that o get ua all the time the first.month being there.I got ua 4times a month cause they started me it on 5mg twice a day. so I would go in and had to explain and eventually worked my way up ..now my new doctor gives me 120 Percocet. the ones with out Tylenol a month! so I felt so disappointed with my last doctor.not understanding my pain. he had been my doctor for 6yrs. u would think he would eventually understand what I was trying to tell him every month. so now im with a new doctor who now thinks I was selling my pain meds at one point...I get ua every month but I have nothing to hide so its whatever but...I know how you feel!

I'm the president and run america.....oh and I have a master's degree. And I say stuff just to say it. Anyone with half a brain can look it up synthetic opiates (opioids) fentanyl, oxycontin.... do not show up unless testing for them. For example military drug testing never tested for opioids but tested for opiates and once oxycontin and opioids started getting bad with soldiers they started testing for them.

I work in a residential treatment center. We have to have a different dip test that in fact only tests for fentanyl. As it will not show on the 12 panel dip tests we use to find heroin, codeine and oxys as well as other drugs we test for.

I agree with Darcey 100%. The metabolites stay in your system longer, sometimes a great deal longer. All depends on usage, depends on the persons weight, depends on route of use. There are many variables that it depends on. People shouldn't post stuff to post stuff. And all the high and mighty's on here should ask there self how they came upon this forum...? You asked the same question everybody else did. I myself am going for my back surgery soon and they told me that the anesthesiologist would be using fentanyl along with another drug to put me under and that I need to stop using it before I go. I was checking how long before I go because I forgot to ask and its past business hours. Some folks need to chill out. Stop judging people. And those of you that are chewing on your patches, you need to be really careful. Too much and you can go into respiratory failure. I'm just saying. Wearing it is what it's for. And those of you who are abusing it, I just ask that you think about what you are doing... Addiction sucks ass... And for those of us that really need the medicine are given drug tests because of people abusing them. Depending on the insurance, those drug tests aren't cheap because they check for the amount in your system to ensure you're following the prescribed regimen. Mine does anyways. Anyways, to all who use it because you need it I wish you well and to those who use it for anything other than pain...I wish you well, too. I hope you are careful so that your loved ones don't have to miss you too early in your life. Take care everybody...

Jam7ra, I think I read somewhere that fentanyl actually metabolizes as morphine. I could totally be wrong, but I swear I read that somewhere. Maybe ask your dr to submit a different kind of test...? Maybe it's the type of test they are using. Idk, but that's totally weird and I don't blame you at all for being frustrated. Especially if you are saving the used ones and the unused ones. Sounds like your dr is just an ass. I hope it all works out for you though.

and not ever uses it i an on oxycodone and a bp med levothroxine also I am in chronic renal failure I am so afraid it will show that way again and they won't give me my meds.my boyfriend is on a pa!n patch

I'm desperetly searching for the right answer. My grandson was arrested because he was taken by ambulance because he was unconcious and not breathing. He said some things in an altered state about actyl fentyl. He was drug tested, both urine and blood and the only positive was his prescription adderall. He tried to tell them he had not taken any drugs and he couldn't help what he said when he was in and out of a concious state! He's only 19 and his glucose level was 282 and it was also reported that he had a tender forehead with contusions. My grandson was subject to random drug searches and random drug testing and so he was automatically accussed of using acteyl fentyl instead of looking at other factors that could have caused this to happen to him. They crusified him in the paper and added things he never said but when it comes to law enforcement it seems to always be in their favor! Please keep in mind that the community in which my grandson lives is embroiled in corruption with people in positions of authority and trust being fired. Law enforcement included! Please help me to find the right answers! Thank you for any help you may be able to give me!

As mentioned in several other posts, most opioids are synthetics and need their own test for them. For instance I go for Subutex treatment and my Dr. has me do a 12 panel test and a single Buprenorphine (Subutex) test. I have done the Fentanyl patches just before testing and they do NOT show up on a 12 panel test. They would need to do a mass spec test to look for every opioid or have a pee stick test for each one.
