I am having withdrawals from my regular medication which is oxycodone. I'm recently prescribed dilaudid 8mg for pain - how long will this medication work for, and will it take away the wd symptoms?

I found dilaudid 8mg pills that may be 4 years old. Are these pills still good to stop pain?
It should help, each 8mg Dilaudid is equivalent to 21.33mgs of Oxycodone. They are usually taken every 4 to 6 hours.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
