How Long Does A Mylan 12mcg Fentanyl Patch Really Last?

I am new to fentanyl treatment but no stranger to narcotic treatment for severe sciatica in my left leg. I was prescribed the 12.5mcg and the pharmacy gave me the Mylan 12mcg. My first patch didn't do anything for over 6 hrs. so I put another one on. Took a hot shower, went to bed and woke up the next morning pain free for the first time in a VERY long time. Since I was only given 5 patches to last me 2 weeks, I was wondering how long they really last. I've heard that there's actually enough fentanyl in each patch to last 7 days. Is this really ture??

You really shouldn't take a hot shower or be exposed to much heat, while wearing the patch, it tends to make it release faster, which could result in overdose.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Each past usually lasts 3 days.

Can anyone else that's used them chime in?

A lot of people have to change them at 48 hours because they run out. I did that when I was on them. Got much better pain relief and didn't go into w/drawls. They def. do not last a week.
